About Thomas Lum

Thomas Lum is a Professor of Practice in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Delaware. He earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Frostburg State University and his master’s from Villanova University.

Thomas began his career at Parkville Magnet School for Math, Science, and Computer Science, where he taught before focusing primarily on mathematics education. He later transitioned into technology instruction, specializing in Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Engineering with concentrations in Digital Electronics and Engineering Design and Development.

In 2018, he joined the University of Delaware to manage the Electrical and Computer Engineering makerspace, fostering innovation and hands-on learning for students. In 2025, he became a full-time faculty member, and is currently teaching Design and Entrepreneurship as well as Introduction to Digital Systems.
