Assistant Professor

About Christopher Schuetz

Dr. Schuetz’s primary research interest lie in the area of microwave and millimeter-wave photonics. In particular, Dr. Schuetz is looking for novel ways to utilize photonic networks to open new applications for optical processing of microwave signals. As one example, he has successfully demonstrated the use of a coherent optical network for the realization of a distributed passive millimeter-wave imager with applications military and commercial imaging through obscurants such as fog and dust. He is currently looking to extend these networks to enable next generation, flexible electronic systems for military RADAR and EW. Dr. Schuetz also has an ongoing interest in the area of free space optical communications, polymer optical waveguide technologies, and high speed optical modulators.
