We are currently developing a unique microscopy system with integrated laser-based spectroscopy capability to study novel nano-engineered materials for potential optoelectronic device applications. The system is designed to characterize soft- as well as solid-state materials & devices using optical micro-spectroscopy in controlled environments and at temperatures ranging from 4.2 to 1750 K. Its un-paralleled level of flexibility will make this system a central part in multiple research efforts by allowing to study and controllably altering the material properties in-situ by inducing built-in material strains or through nanoscale engineering.
