Professor Dave Sincoskie
Research Interests
Prof. Sincoskie’s interests are in computer networking and telecommunications, R&D management, and intellectual property. During his 28 years at Bell Labs, Bellcore, and Telcordia, Sincoskie built research groups focused on network management, mobile and ad-hoc networking, optical networking, network security and wireless communications, and performed research in local area networks, switching, network architecture, internet telephony and packet video. Sincoskie is a leader in the transformation of the ARPANET into today’s ubiquitous Internet. His personal accomplishments include the invention of the Virtual LAN, and contributions to voice over IP, IPv6, gigabit networking, ATM, and the NSFNET. Prof. Sincoskie currently serves on the National Research Council’s Board of Army Science and Technology. Past service includes Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Advisory Group, DARPA’s Information Sciences and Technology (ISAT) group, and the Internet Architecture Board (IAB). Prof. Sincoskie is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and a Fellow of the IEEE. He was inducted into the University of Delaware Alumni Wall of Fame in 2006.
