Dr. Walker is the Founding Director of the new University of Delaware Cybersecurity Initiative (UDCSI) at the University of Delaware, with a key focus on corporate cybersecurity that addresses present and emerging cyber threats and a special emphasis on the banking/financial, energy, chemical, and electrical grid industrial sectors incorporating advances in education and research, as well as training and certification programs for the corporate workforce and Government professionals.
The initiative's purpose is to:
- Establish sets of cyber security educational programs encompassing undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as certificate programs focusing on present and emerging cyber threats to corporate America.
- Work with the University administration and faculty of the Colleges of Engineering and Arts & Sciences and the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics in developing fundamental and applied cyber research programs emphasizing multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary approaches that uniquely apply to corporate and operations and governance.
- Forge strategic partnerships with key universities, government agencies and corporations on the national and international level accelerating innovation, discovery, and development of enhanced cyber security capabilities that lead to emerging technology pathways to the future.
- Create and lead programs to enhance cyber security, information assurance, big data analytics/high performance computing processes, visual analytics capabilities, critical infrastructure protection, security awareness training, risk analysis, certification and accreditation training, security incident management, continuity of operations and disaster recovery.
