January 20, 1998 Satellite Town Meeting

        Delaware Department of Education, and
    Dr. Jeanne Geddes-Key,
        Director of The College School, a private school for children with exceptionalities

The Disability Related Awareness for Students (DReAmS) organization and
the Student Chapter for Exceptional Children (SCEC) are holding this seminar to discuss ways that families, educators and communities can work together to improve the quality of education for students with disabilities and provide schools with the tools to assess what all children are learning.   In this satellite conference U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley and his guests discuss issues regarding recent amendments to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which will provide children with disabilities an individualized education designed to meet their unique needs. Other topics include integration, assessment and evaluation, parent advocacy, and IEPs.
