Group Name: DReAmS, Disability Related Awareness for Students

Preamble

We, the students at the University of Delaware, do hereby form the organization known as the DReAmS for the purpose of:

Fostering an awareness of disability issues on campus and supporting students with disabilities.

Article I

Name

The organization shall be known as the DReAmS, Disability Related Awareness for Students.

Article II

Object

The Object of this Organization shall be to:

Section 1:

Support students with disabilities through educational and social activities.

Section 2:

Facilitate and perpetuate the integration of students with disabilities on campus.

Section 3:

Heighten awareness of disability related issues among students faculty and the community at large.

Section 4:

Foster campus and community support and services. Create an environment that will establish a network for students with disabilities both within and outside of the University: including appointed faculty, and community organizations and companies. For example, establish ties for student coop opportunities etc.

Section 5:

Develop and establish models that will help serve students with disabilities and faculty in their pursuit of education (procedures, policy, educational strategies, social activities, social integration strategies etc.). Log any accounts of implementation for dissemination purposes, to offer information to other groups and colleges.

Section 6:

Assist with positive implementation of the ADA law.


Article III
Qualifications for Membership

Any full-time matriculated student of the University of Delaware who agrees with the object and purpose of this Organization may become a member. This includes both undergraduate and graduate students.

Exceptions will be made for and will include:

Article IV
Officers and Elections

Section 1: President

This Organization shall have a President with the duties of calling and running meetings and handling day to day affairs.

Section 2: Vice-President

The Vice-President shall serve the role of president if the president is absent, unable to serve the duties of president, or if the president resigns.

Section 3: Treasurer

The Treasurer shall be responsible for all group expenditures and revenues. The Treasurer shall sign any checks written by this Organization or for purposes of the Organization and maintain all group ledgers.

Section 4: Secretary

The Secretary shall record the events of all meetings of this Organization and shall maintain minutes of those meetings. The Secretary shall take attendance of those present at group meetings as necessary.

Section 5: Qualifications for Officers

All officers must meet the requirements for becoming a member of this Organization (see Article III).

Section 6: Elections:

Elections for officers shall be held at least once per academic year. Only full-time matriculated undergraduate students at the University of Delaware may vote in elections.


Article V
Meetings

The Organization shall meet at least once per academic semester.

Article VI

Bylaws

Section 1: Authority

This Organization shall establish bylaws to carry out the policies set forth in this constitution.

Section 2: Approval of Bylaws

Bylaws and changes in bylaws shall be approved by two-thirds (2/3) approval of those members present and voting.

Article VII
Procedure

The rules contained in Roberts Rules of Order, Revise Edition shall govern the society in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with the bylaws or the special rules of order of this society.

Article VIII
Ratification

This Constitution shall be ratified by a two-thirds (2/3) affirmative vote of the membership of this Organization and approval of this organization's registration by the Student Activities Office.

Article XI
Amendments

Amendments to this Constitution shall require approval of two-thirds (2/3) approval of the entire membership of this Organization. Advance notice must be made to all members of proposed changes to the constitution.
